People interested in finding out more about fostering or providing supported lodgings for children and young people can find out more at an information event being held in Goole.
The event, which is being run by East Riding of Yorkshire Council, will give those people interested the opportunity to speak to staff from the council's fostering service, including social workers, foster carers as well as children who are looked after.
The event will take place at East Riding Leisure Goole on Wednesday, 13 October starting at 7pm and there will also be information about the excellent support package available to East Riding foster carers.
This includes high quality training and access to qualifications, a generous allowance and annual loyalty payment, practical, social and emotional support, free membership to the gym and classes at East Riding leisure centres for all members of the household and regular free events exclusively for the council's foster carers.
Councillor Victoria Aitken, portfolio holder for children and young people's education, health and well-being at East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said; "For anyone thinking about providing foster care or supported lodgings to children and young people then this is the perfect chance to find out more about it.
"It's an opportunity for people to speak to those who work in the council's fostering service as well as those who are already foster carers - it will provide a first-hand insight into the role.
"The council is constantly looking for people to become foster carers or provide supported lodgings so this could be the beginning of a journey that can have great rewards for everyone involved and can change lives forever.
"I encourage anyone who is thinking about fostering, or is simply interested to find out more, to visit the event and see if it's for you - with no pressure to commit to anything."
* The event will be held at East Riding Leisure Goole, North Street, Goole, DN14 5QX on Wednesday, 13 October starting at 7pm, with refreshments available from 6.30pm.
