Repairs are to be carried out to Wansford Bridge on Skerne Road from 28 May 2021 which will see the bridge closed for five weeks for essential repairs to the brick parapet.
Work on the grade II listed bridge is due to be carried out over five weeks, starting on Friday 28 May - weather dependent.
The work will involve repairs to the brickwork but on completion the current width restriction will be removed and the temporary weight restriction increased to 7.5 tonnes. Further strengthening work is planned for the bridge at a later date.
Pedestrians and cyclists will still be able to cross Wansford Bridge as normal.
All vehicles will follow the signed diversion: B1249 to Driffield - B1249 Wansford road - Anderson Street - River Head - Beverley Road - Skerne Road - Driffield Road ( Skerne) - West End - Main Street (Skerne) - Skerne Road.
The repair work is to be carried out by the council's trusted Highways team.
Adam Holmes, head of infrastructure and facilities at East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said: "This is essential work to the bridge and will allow the width restriction to be removed on completion which will benefit more motorists.
"We'd like to thank motorists for their patience while this work is carried out."
