Get Creative Online With Artwaves

Thu, 04 Feb 2021

ArtWaves Festival is happy to announce two free online taster workshops in preparation for their main digital festival, 1st - 7th March 2021.

The festival which typically attracts around 6,000 people across the main weekend is striving to ensure accessibility and inspiration to all through a series of online sessions, demonstrations and bookable workshops in a wide range of art mediums.

By offering two free taster sessions it is hoped that people can sign up and try an online session, see how it works and that going digital does not need to be a barrier for interactive creativity.

The two short sessions, both being held on Friday 19th February will embrace song writing and mixed media in a bid to capture a wide range of interests. Forming part of the urban twist element of the event, Hull Beats Bus invites you to participate in song writing as a live, open session you can ask questions and add comments. This is followed by an interactive session with award-winning artist Robert Dutton, who will guide you through a mixed media seascape.
The intention of running these free sessions is to guide you through the process if online workshops are a new concept and for those who are fairly comfortable with online workshops it's a teaser of what you can expect from the main bookable workshops being offered as part of the larger programme.

Lauren Frost, ArtWaves Festival Director said, 'It is vital that we keep creating and remain inspired in these times. That's perhaps easier said than done but our hope with ArtWaves is that by making small changes to how we operate now the festival is virtual we will attract a wider audience and provide a platform for creativity; one where people can be inspired and encouraged by others.'

In a bid to ensure the festival keeps its ethos of being accessible the workshop prices have been lowered, factoring in the change in arrangements from an in-person workshop to a digital one.

All available workshops are listed on the festival website to book onto alongside information on the two free sessions, artwaves.co.uk and ticketing enquiries can be made via the Bridlington Spa box office on 01262 678258.
