£120,000 Road Maintenance Scheme at St Johns Court, Goole, about to start

Tue, 12 Jan 2021

As part of its £12m capital programme of planned highway maintenance works, East Riding of Yorkshire Council will carry out carriageway repairs along St Johns Court, Goole. Work will start on Monday, 18 January for five weeks (weather permitting). The working hours will be 08:00 - 17:00 (Mon - Fri).

The works will involve extensive repairs to the existing kerbing and drainage, along with footway resurfacing, and structural repairs to the existing concrete carriageway before full resurfacing of the carriageway with a new tarmac surface.

For the safety of the workforce and the public, it will be necessary to close St Johns Court while works are being carried out. However, access to residents (of properties within the closure), businesses and emergency services will be provided. There may be short delays in access due to the nature of the works and narrow width of the carriageway. Pedestrian access will remain unaffected, as the contractor will provide an alternative walkway while carrying out footway works.

The works will be carried out by PBS Construction (NE) Ltd on behalf of the council. The contractor will be carrying out this essential work strictly in accordance with the Government and Public Health England advice on social distancing, to protect the workforce and local residents.

An East Riding of Yorkshire Council spokesperson said : "We apologise to local residents and road users for any inconvenience caused by these essential works and associated road closures. However, residents will see significant improvements to St John's Court on completion."

If local residents or road users have any questions or require further information, they should contact Project Manager, Daniel Haysom, on (01482) 395592 or dan.haysom@eastriding.gov.uk.
